ThinkPad X301 に Ubuntu 8.10

新しい PC を買ったので Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop x64 をインストールしてみる

Windows Vista での前準備

Windows Vista のリカバリーCD を作成（Business 64bit版）
  • CD-R 1枚、DVD-R 2枚用意
  • スタートメニューから「すべてのプログラム」-> ThinkVantage -> Create Product Recovery Media を起動して作成
Ubuntu 用に空き領域を確保
  • スタートメニューから「コンピュータ」で右クリック -> 管理
  • 「コンピュータの管理」で 記憶域 -> ディスクの管理 を選択
  • C: を選択し右クリック -> ボリュームの圧縮
  • 「圧縮する領域のサイズ」に空けたいサイズを
Ubuntu の CD を作成
  • CDイメージファイルを以下からダウンロード（せっかくなので 64bit版を）

Get Ubuntu | Download | Ubuntu

  • 以下を参考に CD-R に焼く（CDBurnerXP Proを使った）

以上で準備完了

Ubuntu のインストール

作成した CD-R から起動してインストールすればオーケー


SSD なので寿命を考慮し手動にてスワップパーティションは無しにしてみた
インストールは簡単なので省略

Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop x64 の動作

ハードウェアの自動認識もちゃんとしてくれて、大体使えてます


ホームディレクトリのディレクトリ名が日本語なのが使いづらいので以下を参考に英語に変更
Ubuntu 8.10 $HOME配下の日本語名ディレクトリを英語名に変更する - naridium
